Mr. McManus’ fourth grade class at Bayview Elementary School has been studying magnetic forces during their science lessons. In a recent activity, the students used repelling magnetic forces to design and construct magnetic levitating vehicles. They began by drawing their prototypes to scale. Next, they “purchased” materials, measured, cut and totaled their final cost. The students worked together to become problem solvers. Using trial and error, they tweaked their projects to get them to maximum performance.
