Despite the dreary weather conditions outside, the hallways were full of sunshine and cheers as members of the ALS Ride for Life organization visited Paul J. Bellew and Manetuck elementary schools on May 15. At both schools, students and staff lined the school’s hallways, holding up signs of encouragement and inspiration shouting “Strike Out ALS.” Manetuck Elementary School Principal Vanessa Williams and Paul J. Bellew Elementary School Principal Rhonda Pratt presented the organization with checks, thanks to their fundraising efforts. ALS Ride for Life will visit schools across Long Island in May. The organization was founded in 1997 with the mission of raising research funds to find a cure for ALS, supporting patients and their families through patient services and increasing public awareness.
