Congratulations to the West Islip High School wind ensemble for achieving the highest award attainable – Level 6 - Gold with Distinction – in this year’s New York State School Music Association Adjudication Festival. This marks the ninth time in the past 10 years and 16 in the past 18 years that the ensemble has achieved this award. NYSSMA concert literature is graded on difficulty, levels 1-6, level 6 being the most difficult and challenging. Awards given include bronze, silver and gold. “With Distinction” credentials are given to gold-rated ensembles whose performance is deemed especially exceptional.
