Little Lions Preschool Program @ West Islip High School
The Family & Consumer Science Department at WIHS will host the Little Lions Preschool (note this is different from District Pre-K) for the 25-26 school year. Little Lions provides young children with an introduction to school and offers learning experiences through play and interaction with high school students aspiring to be teachers. Activities are planned and conducted by our high school student-teachers. We focus primarily on developing sharing skills, independence, thinking, language, physical, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills.
The program takes place October - May on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at West Islip High School. This program is only for West Islip School District residents. You must provide your own transportation.

West Islip HS Little Lions Preschool Registration:
The Family & Consumer Science Department at West Islip High School is currently accepting applications for the Little Lions 2025-26 preschool program. The purpose of Little Lions is to provide a well-rounded educational experience for children to learn, grow and form friendships while affording an opportunity for high school students enrolled in child study classes to work directly with young children. This is a great way to introduce young children to school.
Children that are currently four years old or that will turn four by April 1, 2026 are invited to join the Little Lions preschool program. This program is only for West Islip School District residents.
The program takes place October-May on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. at West Islip High School. The program has a maximum enrollment of 12 students. No transportation is provided.
Preschool students who are enrolled in another program that conflicts with the West Islip Little Lions preschool program will not be considered for the Little Lions preschool program.
If you are interested in having your child attend the Little Lions preschool program, complete the application online by Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Students will be chosen using a lottery system and placements will need to be confirmed for registration. Remaining students will be waitlisted. A confirmation email will be sent to parents after May 28th.
