In honor of Black History Month, students at Oquenock Elementary School studied influential African Americans. The students created a quilt featuring pictures and facts about the historical figures. In addition, students crafted a peace sign using their handprints in the colors of the Pan-African flag. The red, yellow and green colors of the flag come together to represent pride, freedom and the political power of African Americans.
