The West Islip Union Free School District recently received their 2023-2024 NYSPHSAA School of Distinction award from NYSPHSAA executive director Dr. Robert Zayas. To be recognized as a NYSPHSAA School of Distinction, 100 percent of a district’s varsity sport teams must earn Scholar-Athlete team recognition with a team average of 90 or higher. While all schools receiving this distinction had 100 percent of their varsity athletic teams qualify, West Islip is one of only 22 New York State school districts that offer more than 30 annual varsity sports to receive this prestigious honor! Congratulations to the student-athletes, families, coaches, teachers and entire West Islip staff on this incredible accomplishment!
