Each year, the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition presents the Pink Flags Celebration, where hundreds of flags are displayed on the lawns of Good Samaritan University Hospital to commemorate October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On Oct. 6, West Islip High School’s Vocal Motion performed at the WIBCC’s Pink Flags Celebration at the Women’s Imaging Center. Under the direction of Melissa Senatore, the group captivated the audience with the song “Rise Up” by Andra Day. In addition, the West Islip Marching Lion’s Color Guard joined the ceremony this year. The flag team’s inspiring performance added to the event’s purpose and mission. The day showed love and devotion to those affected by breast cancer.
