The West Islip Union Free School District came together for a memorable day of school spirit, community pride and celebration during its annual homecoming festivities on Oct. 10. Students, staff, families, alumni and local organizations joined together to celebrate the district and cheer on the home team.
The festivities began with the annual homecoming parade, which traveled down Higbie Lane to West Islip High School. The streets were lined with cheering spectators as the school community and local organizations helped create a festive atmosphere. Homecoming posters from each of the high school classes made their way along the route and were later paraded around the track, while members of the homecoming court proudly rode atop convertibles, waving to the crowds.
Adding to the excitement was the district’s marching band, whose energetic performance delighted spectators along the parade route. The festivities continued at the high school, where the varsity football team took on Eastport-South Manor in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. The team delivered an impressive performance, earning a decisive 41-7 victory.
During halftime, the celebration continued with performances by the marching band, kickline team and varsity cheerleaders, showcasing the talent and dedication of the district’s student performers.
