Students Showcase Innovation at STEM Symposium

The district recently hosted its annual STEM Research Symposium on June 1, celebrating the creativity, dedication and achievements of students involved in research programs across the district.
During the event, middle and high school students enrolled in Introduction to Science Research, Skills in STEM Research, Biotechnology Research and Advanced Research were recognized by their teachers for their outstanding efforts and accomplishments throughout the year.
The symposium also honored senior students participating in Advanced Research, Research Institute Experiences and the STEM Academy Research Program. As part of the celebration, seniors presented their individual research projects to an audience of family members, educators and community members. Students shared the focus of their investigations, explained their findings and reflected on their experiences as young researchers. They also discussed their plans and goals as they prepare for the next chapter following high school.
Following the student presentations, attendees gathered in the gymnasium for a poster walk featuring research projects from all levels of the program. Guests had the opportunity to speak with students, learn more about their discoveries and celebrate the wide range of topics explored through STEM research.
The annual STEM Research Symposium highlights the district’s commitment to fostering curiosity, critical thinking and innovation while providing students with meaningful opportunities to engage in authentic scientific exploration.
