Manetuck Fifth Graders Honor Military Via Memorial Day Project

In recognition of Memorial Day, fifth grade students in Mr. Schmalenberger’s class at Manetuck Elementary School recently participated in a meaningful project designed to honor the brave men and women who lost their lives while serving in the United States military.
As part of the initiative, students wrote heartfelt messages of gratitude and remembrance that were attached to American flags and displayed throughout the school community. The project served as a powerful visual reminder of the importance of Memorial Day and the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces.
Through the activity, students gained a deeper understanding of the true meaning of Memorial Day while reflecting on themes of courage, service and gratitude. The project also encouraged students to recognize the importance of honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. School community members are encouraged to visit the displays around the building to read the students’ thoughtful messages and reflections.
