Manetuck’s Author Visit Inspires Students

As part of this year’s Parents as Reading Partners program, Manetuck Elementary School welcomed Mike Evans of Synchronicity Coaching Inc. as the featured author. Joined by West Islip’s science director Renee Bandes, the duo delivered an engaging and motivational presentation centered on the theme of pushing through challenges.
Drawing from their “Little Laurie and Ninja Nee series,” as well as personal life experiences and connections to science, they shared powerful messages about perseverance, resilience and the importance of mindset. Students learned how believing in themselves and maintaining a positive inner voice can help them overcome obstacles that may initially seem impossible.
To bring this message to life, teacher volunteers participated in a memorable demonstration. Guided by Mr. Evans, they practiced focusing on positive self-talk and determination before successfully breaking through wooden planks using martial arts techniques. The interactive experience left a lasting impression on students, reinforcing the idea that confidence and mindset play a key role in achieving goals.
The visit was both inspiring and impactful, encouraging students to apply these lessons in their own lives as they continue to grow as learners and individuals.
