West Islip Boys Swimmers Shine at NYS Championships

The West Islip High School boys swim team once again demonstrated its proud tradition of excellence at the New York State Boys Swimming and Diving Championships at Ithaca College, delivering historic performances on the state’s biggest stage. The 200-yard medley relay team of Colin Stueber, Billy DeWitt, Braden Felix and Everett Lu set a new West Islip school record while racing to an impressive seventh place finish in New York State.
Individually, Colin delivered a remarkable championship performance, breaking West Islip school records in both the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard freestyle. He also secured seventh place in New York State in the 100 breaststroke, highlighting one of the top performances in program history.
Billy continued the team’s record-breaking momentum, setting a new school record in the 100-yard butterfly while finishing 11th in New York State. He also placed ninth in the state in the 100-yard backstroke, showcasing his versatility and strength across multiple events.
Under the leadership of coaches Mac Loudon and Ed Jablonski, West Islip finished 17th overall out of 130 schools represented at the state championship. This exceptional performance reflects the dedication, talent and competitive spirit that continue to define West Islip swimming, adding another proud chapter to the program’s long history of success at the state level.
