Boys Track and Field Makes History

Congratulations to the West Islip boys indoor track and field team and coaches Vin Melia and Jason Sorice on winning the first Suffolk County team championship in West Islip history! The championship hung in the balance coming down to the last relay of the event, which propelled West Islip to jump into first place by two points! Some highlights include:
Sebastian Niewinski – 300 (first place); Chase Miller – 3,200 (first place) and 1,600 (fifth place); Brandon Wisniewski – 55 (fourth place) and 300 (third place); Ryan Hoffman – shot put (second place); Jake Riley – long jump (second place); and Jakob Timm, Brandon Wisniewski, Nicolas Winter, Sebastian Niewinski – 4x200 relay team (third place).
Also competing in the championship were: Matt Haarstick and Landon Mancini, who scored personal bests in the 600 meter; Ethan Platt, Narmer Compere, Matt Haarstick, Landon Mancini in the 4x400 relay; Eric Yang in long jump; Vin Maffetone in 1,600; and Colin German in shot put.
