Paul J. Bellew Students Celebrate Unity Day

Unity Day was celebrated on Oct. 22 at Paul J. Bellew Elementary School, as students and staff came together to promote kindness, inclusion and friendship. Dressed in orange – the color symbolizing unity – everyone joined in a day of meaningful activities focused on standing up against bullying.
Kindergartners and fifth graders partnered with their buddy classes for a special read-aloud of “Billy Bully.” The story reinforced important lessons about kindness, forgiveness, and understanding, helping students reflect on the power of their words and actions.
After the story, each student worked with their buddy to write a kind message on a paper leaf. The colorful leaves were then cut out and placed on the school’s Unity Tree, a powerful visual reminder that kindness grows when everyone works together.
