Blasting Off at Oquenock

Third graders at Oquenock Elementary School recently blasted off into learning as part of their Arts & Letters unit on space. After exploring books, discussions and activities about planets, stars and astronauts, students took on the role of space explorers themselves. To culminate the unit, students “transformed” into astronauts and created thoughtful questions about space for their classmates to answer. Their astronaut portraits and space-themed questions are now proudly displayed in the hallway, inviting the school community to test their space knowledge and celebrate student learning. The project encouraged curiosity, creativity and collaboration, while giving students a fun and interactive way to showcase what they learned about the universe.
