First graders in Ms. Caldone’s class at Bayview Elementary School took a virtual field trip to the Bronx Zoo on Jan. 9 as a fun and engaging part of their new literacy unit. Dressed in safari hats and zookeeper IDs, students explored a variety of zoo exhibits through videos while learning about animals and what people can discover by studying them. The virtual experience brought learning to life and provided an exciting bookend to their literacy program.
