ANNOUNCEMENTS

Good Morning. Today is Thursday October 19. It is a GOLD day. Please stand for the pledge.

Attention to all GSA members: there will be a meeting in room 206 after school on Friday. We'll be filling the showcase with art so bring a pencil and some artsy friends! New members are always welcome.

It’s finally here! The first Student Senate volleyball tournament of the school year is upon us! Come out to the Girl's Gym tonight at 6:30 and see if your team has what it takes to go the distance. The winning team of this double elimination tournament receives a $50 Buffalo Wild Wings Gift Card and the honor of wearing "the shirt". Cost is $30 per team. See a student senate member for rules and restrictions. See you then!
Attention DECA members there will be a meeting today at 2:15 in room 109. Competitions and fundraising will be discussed.
Come on down to West Islip Idol, Friday, November 3rd at 7pm. Tickets will be sold by West Islip Idol participants, Class of 2019 members and at the door for a price of $10. We hope to see you all there.

Attention poetry lovers: NEHS presents Fall into Poetry, tonight at 6:30 in Cafeteria A/B.
Members of the planning committee will be meeting after school to finalize plans.

Trick or Treat! The Class of 2018 is celebrating Halloween this year by selling Boo Bags for $5 each. Send your friends or your teachers a trick or treat this year. Please go to the downstairs library, the main office, guidance or see a class officer to purchase one. Happy Halloween!

The SAFE (environmental club) meeting has been changed to Thursday October 26 due to a scheduling conflict. See you next week!

West Islip Students with HEARTT are collecting Peanut Butter and Jelly, brown paper lunch bags, juice boxes and snack items for their PB and J gang set to take place on November 18 in the city.
All items donated can be left in room 298 or by the attendance window. Last day to drop off is November 15. The lunches will be made on the 16th of November.
Attentions all 9th grade Freshman Mathletes: The first 9th Grade Mathlete Meet is being held on Tuesday October 24th. All 9th grade Freshman Mathletes should meet Mr. Michel at 2:45 pm in room 105 on Tuesday, before heading down to the bus for departure. If you cannot attend the meeting on Tuesday, contact Mr. Michel.
Attention all returning 12th grade National Honor Society Members: There will be a mandatory meeting after school in the library today. If you cannot attend please see Mrs. Gifford for further information.
Attention Seniors! Come down to the library to vote on one of three fantastic themes for your Senior Yearbook. Voting will be open today through Friday at 2pm!
Congratulations to the boys varsity golf team who earned first place in their league tournament yesterday at Cherry Creek golf course in Riverhead. Senior player Joe Tammaro also finished the regular season with the best match average in the league with a 37. Great Job guys!
The Varsity Girls Volleyball Team defeated Hills West yesterday 3-0. The team’s final home game will be on Friday at 5:45. Come out and support your team.
Congratulations to the Girls JV Volleyball team on their 3-0 win against Half Hollow Hills West yesterday. The last home game is this Friday at 4, followed by the varsity team's senior night. Come out and support both teams.

Seniors, please remember to have your senior photos taken by October 31st. All baby pictures and senior quotes need to be emailed to the yearbook email before October 31st. Please visit the yearbook e-board for directions.
Science Olympiad Team Meeting will be today after school in room 236. Stop by for the rules for the trial events. If you cannot make the meeting, email or see Miss Tong or Miss Picone.

All National Honor Society Candidates: your completed applications are due back to either the library or Mrs. Gifford’s room 289 today. Please double check your packets to ensure that all is complete before submission. Good luck!

West Islip Thirst Project is proud to announce they have funded their first fresh water well of this school year by raising $12,000 in donations. This would not have been possible without all of your help. Thank you for supporting our efforts to drill sustainable water wells for the people of Swaziland in southern Africa. Onward we go to fund Well #2 of the year! Water is a Human Right.

Congratulations to the Girls JV Volleyball team on their 3-0 DIG PINK win against Deer Park yesterday.

The Varsity Girls Volleyball Team defeated Deer Park yesterday 3-0.

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Soccer Team who defeated Deer park yesterday on Senior Day. The win gives the WIGS the Suffolk County League 4 Championship all to their own. Great job girls.
