This is a reminder to all students who have played on winter2 and or
spring sports – The athletic awards assembly is on Tuesday, May 29th, at
7:00 p.m. in the BSMS gymnasium. This includes all athletes and
managers.
West Islip’s Summer Enrichment Program is being offered to all boys and
girls grades K – 8 beginning Monday, July 9th through Thursday, July
12th.
Brochures and registration forms have been sent home, please bring the
registration form to the BSMS main office and we will send them to Mr.
Hunter at PJ Bellew.
Attention Beach Street. The new bracelets have arrived. Support the
orange and white bracelets are on sale for $1.00 and all the proceeds go
to the teacher’s family whose young daughter is battling leukemia.
The Beach Street Boys Track Team improved their record to 2 wins and 1
loss by defeating Oakdale MS 58-47. First place finishers include: Joe
R.(Triple Jump 32 feet 9 inches 800 Meter 2:44.5), Sean B.(Shot Put 35
feet 10 inches), John D.(Long Jump 15 feet 4 inches and 55 Meter Dash
7.5), Joey Z. (55 Meter Hurdles 9.2), Chris F. (1600 Meter 5:48), Ricky
F. (100 meter 13. 0 and 200 Meter 26.8). The 4x100 team ran an
impressive time of 54.6 to close out the meet. This was a complete team
effort with second and third place finishes adding to the overall team
score. The Boy's are to be congratulated for a job well done. Please
come and support the team when we compete at home on Monday May 21, 2012
against Sayville at 4:00 PM. We hope to see you there.

Wednesday, May 16, 2012 - Gold Day

There are several items that were left from the 6th grade Frost Valley
Field Trip (towels, sleeping bags, etc.). Please check the front lobby
desk if forgot to bring home any items.
Reminder for chorus students in Grade 6th , 7th and 8th to wear Black
and White concert dress to school on Thursday, May 17th. Our in school
concert will be that afternoon.
Peer tutoring is canceled for today, May 16th due to the 8th grade field
trip.

forms have been sent home for the Summer Enrichment Program that will
run for 4 days in early July with 16 classes to choose from. You can
choose from Drama, Hand Sewing, International Cooking, Creative Knots
and Crafts, American Girl Power Club, Air Propelled Race Cars, Dragster
Design and construction, Word Games, Storybook Cooking, Creative
Dramatics, Zumbatomic, Guitar, Piano, Yoga, Legos and Babysitting. What
a great selection you have to choose from! So bring those registration
forms back to the main office and we will send them over or you can mail
the registration form back to Mr. Hunter at Paul J. Bellew by the last
week of school. The courses will be first come first served so don’t
miss out on a great opportunity and get those registration slips in!
Remember, once a class is filled, you will be closed out.
Tuesday, May 15, 2012 - Blue Day
Congratulations to Mr Lavery, Kyle K, Charles H., and Michael M. as
yesterday the boys' varsity Track and Field team defeated rival Bay
Shore to secure a undefeated season. With the win West Islip won the
Suffolk County league three championship. This is the third year out of
the last four that West Islip has been Suffolk County league three
undefeated champions.
Attention Newspaper Staff: Sorry for the short notice, but there is a
meeting today for anyone who can attend. 2:45 to 3:30 PM in Mr. Fawess'
room. Our next meeting, will be next Tuesday as well - May 22nd at 2:45
to 3:30 PM in Mr. Fawess’ room.
The girls lacrosse team has a home game today vs. Bay Shore at 4:00!!
Please wear your white jerseys girls! Thanks!
Due to the length of the Broadway show, the 8th grade field trip to NYC
on Wednesday, May 16th is expected to arrive back at Beach Street at
approximately 6:15.
A reminder to all 7th & 8th grade chorus students: Today is a double
period rehearsal for periods 8 & 9. Please come directly to the
auditorium and take your assigned spot on the risers. There are no
binders for this rehearsal. Thank you.
Monday, May 14, 2012 - Gold Day
The Beach/Udall Swim Team had a very exciting meet on Friday!!! Sierra
K. broke the Team record for the 50 freestyle! Nicos P. came in first in
the 100 IM and the 50 Breaststroke! Rachel B, Lizzy A, and Ryan O were
heat winners in the 50 Freestyle! Other great swims were by: Sammy D.,
Hannah and Julie G. in the 50 freestyle Brooke L. in the 100 Freestyle:
Louden M in the Butterfly - Samantha W, Tyler C. and Patrick O. in the
Backstroke Anthony L, Julie R, Comeron K and Kelly P in the Breaststroke
and great Job to our divers Georgie B. and Patrick G! Great Job Team!!
Next Meet is Today at the High School Pool!!!
The girls lacrosse team continued their undefeated season in their game
against Islip Saturday finishing with a score of 13-1. All-around the
girls played amazing, showing not only a great offensive performance,
but defensive as well, especially our goalies Cali L and Morgan R. On
offense, we finished with an outstanding 13 girls contributing goals,
including Olivia H, Chelsea S, Julia I, KC S, Jillian I, Kristi D,
Lindsey H, Mattie B, Meghan M, Alex G, Emma H, Katie R and Emily B. The
girls played an amazingly unselfish game....great job ladies!!
Boys and Girls Track is canceled today.
